1.  Have a garage sale to get rid of anything you don't want to pay to have moved. It saves time and money on packing, and the actual moving of the items. Stuff like old clothing and books make great donations to one of your favorite charities. . . and as a bonus. . . it's a tax write-off!

2.  Clean that refrigerator/ freezer out! Don't just empty them if you are going on a long distance move or you may have a smelly surprise waiting for you at your new home!

3.  Empty fuel from mowers, weedeaters, chainsaws, (anything that has the potential to explode), we are not allowed to take these items on our truck otherwise.  Also, please DO NOT  pack other flammable liquids or aerosol cans, changes in temperature and pressure can cause them to leak, or explode. Propane tanks cannot be moved. We want you to have a safe move. Keep in mind that if you pack these items anyway, and they cause damage to your shipment or others, you, not your mover, may be held liable.

4.  Contact your post office and notify them of your change of address and have all your mail forwarded so that nothing gets lost or left behind. You never know when someone might be trying to contact you with a reward, refund of some type, or inheritance! If you leave a forwarded address you can be found.

5.  Contact the electric, telephone, water, any ulitity company you have services with to let them know of your move date so that they can have everything turned off for safety reasons. Plus you don't want to have to pay for what you aren't using!

6.  You may need your personal documentation in a hurry, so keep marriage/birth certificates, driving licenses, passports etc., separate so they are not packed. Just in case.

7.  Have pet carriers to take them with you. Pets are not allowed on the truck. Also have them out of the movers way, they could get stepped on or cause the movers to trip with your furniture. Keep everyone safe!

8.  Have waterbeds drained and ready to be moved since they take awhile. You might also want to check your owner's manual or a local waterbed dealer regarding proper procedure and/or special instructions.

9.  Whenever possible pack your personal computer and home electronics in the carton they came in. The are specially made for protecting them during shipment. If you no longer have the boxes use a strong corrugated carton with plenty of padding for protection! Label all cords as to where they go, it will save you time and a headache at your new home.

10.  If you have children, please keep them out of the movers way. It slows them down, and could cause something to be damaged, the child included. If at all possible have a relative or friend take care of them on moving day. We don't want anyone hurt, specially not your most important belonging, your baby!

11. We recommend that you not pack food items that pest can get into, especially if you are moving long distance. You don't want your new house to be filled up with bugs when you get there!
