1. The first point of Packing is to plan how you are going to do it. Stuff like medicines you need to be able to get to quick! Label those boxes! (You will hear that often!)

2. When you know that you are going to have to move. . . start packing! It takes longer than you think. Our stuff grows more than we realise, even when we live somewhere just a short time.

3. Pack items that you don't need or use first. Label it that way!

4. When packing breakables, use plenty of paper!! You can never have to much paper to cushion those breakables!

5. When using newspaper with print use caution, ink may rub off on your items.

6. Always use the correct tape for your boxes. Using masking tape is asking for a box to burst out the bottom. Masking tape is not strong enough to hold your boxes together. Moving tape is recommended, it comes in clear or brown.

7. Always separate breakables from non-breakables, and "label" the boxes to let the movers know what is fragile.

8. Label the boxes so that you know which room to have the movers place them in. Doing so will help you with unpacking. Also, listing about what is in the box will tell you what needs to be unpacked first.

9. When packing books or canned goods use small boxes so they aren't to heavy. Also on books you might want to place paper between them so they don't stick together.

10. When packing, don't forget about your attic and garage. Frequently people forget about these areas.

11. You do not need to worry about packing your dressers. Just make sure they do not contain any breakables or firearms.

12. Always carry valuables such as coins, jewerly, important papers with you.

13. For mirrors, pictures, paintings, mattresses, clothing, table lamps and shades we recommend purchasing specialized containers for the safety of your items.

14. Always pack heavier items at the bottom of the box with lighter items to the top. And remember to not over pack the boxes, you don't want them to rupture.

15. You can put light weight bulky items, such as blankets, pots and pans, lamp shades, etc. in larger boxes. Always remember to have the weight in mind.

16. Use wardrobes for your clothing, they are made so that you don't have to go through the expense of having your clothes rewashed or dry-cleaned. Any clothing that is non-hanging, as in folded clothes, can fit right in the bottom.

17. Start collecting your boxes in advance. There are a lot of places to get them, such as your grocery store, and the liquor store (especially good for glasses, because they have dividers, just remember to wrap glasses with paper). If collecting from the grocery store, be careful of the type of box you get, they can contain bug eggs from the food boxes.
